DeepMET: Improving missing transverse momentum estimation with a deep neural network
/CMS Collaboration
At hadron colliders, the net transverse momentum of particles that do not interact with the detector (missing transverse momentum) is a crucial observable in many analyses. In the standard model, missing transverse momentum originates from neutrinos.

First measurement of coherent photoproduction of Y(1S) mesons in lead-lead ultraperipheral collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV
/CMS Collaboration
Coherent photoproduction of heavy-flavor vector mesons in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions (UPCs) provides a direct probe of the gluonic structure of nuclei. This note presents the first measurement of coherent photoproduction of $\Upsilon(1S)$ off heavy nuclei.

Search for a low mass resonance decaying to $\tau\tau$ using data collected with a dedicated high-rate data stream
/CMS Collaboration
An inclusive search for a low-mass resonance decaying to two $\tau$ leptons is presented, probing the mass range from 20 to $60~\mathrm{GeV}$ for the first time at a hadron collider. The search uses proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt{s}=13.6~\mathrm{TeV}$ corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 61.9 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected by the CMS experiment in 2022 and 2023.

Identification of tau leptons using a convolutional neural network with domain adaptation in the CMS experiment
/CMS Collaboration
The DeepTau identification algorithm, based on deep neural network techniques, has been developed to reduce the fraction of jets, muons, and electrons misidentified as hadronically decaying tau leptons ($\tau_\mathrm{h}$) in the CMS experiment. The latest version of this algorithm includes domain adaptation by backpropagation, a technique that reduces data-to-simulation discrepancies in the region with the highest purity of genuine $\tau_\mathrm{h}$ candidates.

Probing thermodynamic properties of proton-lead collision systems via multiplicity dependence of average transverse momentum at the LHC
/CMS Collaboration
The possible formation of hot, strongly interacting matter in small collision systems has generated significant interest. In this study, the correlation between the average transverse momentum ($\langle {p_{\mathrm{T}}} \rangle$) and charged-particle multiplicity ($N_{\mathrm{ch}}$) is analyzed in proton-lead (pPb) collisions at the CERN LHC to explore the system's thermodynamic properties.

Search for dark matter produced in association with a Higgs boson decaying to bottom quarks in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV
/CMS Collaboration
A search for dark matter produced in association with a Higgs boson decaying to a pair of bottom quarks is presented using data collected with the CMS detector in 2017 and 2018 at $\sqrt{s}$=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 101.3 fb$^{-1}$. The analysis is performed in exclusive channels targeting both boosted and resolved b quark pair topologies, covering a wide range of Higgs boson transverse momentum.

Search for new physics with compressed mass spectra in final states with soft leptons and missing transverse energy in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13~\mathrm{TeV}$
/CMS Collaboration
A search for supersymmetric scenarios leading to compressed mass spectra is presented, using events with at least two low-$p_{\mathrm{T}}$ electrons or muons and missing transverse energy, in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13~\mathrm{TeV}$. This analysis is based on data collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC and corresponds to a total integrated luminosity of up to $139~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$.

Unveiling the dynamics of long-range correlations in high-multiplicity jets through substructure engineering in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=13 TeV
/CMS Collaboration
Recent CMS data have revealed long-range correlations at high charged-particle multiplicity ($N_\text{ch}^\mathrm{j}$) within jets produced in proton-proton (pp) collisions, suggesting collective behavior in systems much smaller than those typical of heavy ion collisions. In the polar coordinate system about the reconstructed jet axis, two-particle azimuthal correlations show an unexpected rise in elliptic anisotropy ($v^{*}_2$) at large pseudorapidity separations ($\Delta\eta^{*} > 2$) as a function of $N_\text{ch}^\mathrm{j}$, a trend not reproduced by event generators like \textsc{pythia} or \textsc{sherpa}. In this paper, we present detailed measurements of long-range correlations using LHC Run 2 data at $\sqrt{s} = 13~\mathrm{TeV}$ and compare the results with model predictions.

Study of $\chi_\mathrm{c}$ production in pPb collisions at $\sqrt{\smash[b]{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}}=8.16\,\text{TeV}$ with the CMS experiment
/CMS Collaboration
The production of prompt P-wave charmonium states $\chi_\mathrm{c1}$(1P) and $\chi_\mathrm{c2}$(2P) is studied in proton-lead (pPb) collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of $\sqrt{\smash[b]{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}}=8.16\,\text{Te\hspace{-.08em}V}$. The analysis is based on data with an integrated luminosity of $175\,$nb$^{-1}$ that were collected by CMS at the LHC.

Constraining low-x gluon densities with low-$p_\mathrm{T}$ $\mathrm{D}^0$ meson production in ultraperipheral lead-lead collisions at 5.36 TeV
/CMS Collaboration
This analysis presents a rapidity-differential measurement of low transverse momentum ($p_{\mathrm{T}}$) $\rm D^{0}$ meson production in ultraperipheral lead-lead collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 5.36~\mathrm{TeV}$. The study is performed in the $\rm D^{0}$ meson $p_{\mathrm{T}}$ range of $2 < p_{\mathrm{T}} < 5~\mathrm{GeV}$ and in intervals of $\rm D^{0}$ meson rapidity $-2 < y < 2$.
