Topological operators, branes, and gravity
/ Bah, Ibrahima (speaker) (Johns Hopkins University)
In this talk, we discuss the origins of topological operators in field theory from holography and string theory. In particular, we demonstrate how the physics of branes can capture the many interesting aspects of topological operators [...]

Exact chiral symmetries of Hamiltonian lattice fermions in 3+1d
/ Thorngren, Ryan (speaker) (UCLA)
We will discuss methods of circumventing the fermion doubling problem in 3+1d Hamiltonian lattice models. In particular, we will construct a 3+1d model with a single Weyl fermion and an exact UV symmetry which implies the conservation of chiral charge in the IR [...]

Latest results from KATRIN: neutrino mass and beyond
/ Valerius, Kathrin (speaker) (KIT)
The Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino experiment (KATRIN) probes the absolute neutrino mass scale with sub-electronvolt sensitivity by precisely measuring the endpoint region of the tritium beta-decay spectrum. KATRIN combines a high-intensity gaseous tritium source and a high-resolution electrostatic spectrometer with magnetic collimation [...]

The atomic nucleus as a window to new physics
/ Holt, Jason (speaker)
Answers to some of the most fundamental questions in science, such as the mass and character of the neutrino, the nature of dark matter, or the abundance of matter over antimatter, might very well reside in the physics of the atomic nucleus. As the role of nuclei in unraveling such mysteries continues to deepen, first-principles quantum simulations, beginning from only underlying nuclear/weak forces, are currently undergoing nothing short of a revolution. [...]

Probing electroweak symmetry breaking using vector boson scattering in ATLAS
/ Xu, Tairan (speaker) (University of Michigan (US))
Vector boson scattering (VBS) is a key process to study at the high-energy frontier. In particular longitudinal polarisation states of the boson have an intrinsic connection to the electroweak symmetry breaking and the Brout-Englert-Higgs mechanism [...]

Some Aspects of Complexity and Krlov Complexity
/ Rabinovici, Eliezer (speaker) (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (IL))
Complexity is a subject of research in several branches of science, from quantum computing, through condensed matter physics to quantum gravity. A review of the concept of Complexity as has emerged in studying long time properties of systems including blackholes will be presented. [...]

Probing baryon-meson dynamics with $\Lambda^0_b$ and $\Xi^0_b$ decays to three-body states at LHCb
/ Garcia Martin, Luis Miguel (speaker) (EPFL - Ecole Polytechnique Federale Lausanne (CH))
Decays of beauty baryons to multibody states provide a unique window to search for intermediate resonances, including exotic states such as pentaquarks.
In this seminar, we present the first observation of the $\Xi^0_b \to J/\psi \Xi^-\pi^+$ decay and the most precise measurement of the branching fraction of the $\Lambda^0_b \to J/\psi \Xi^-K^+$ decay, using 5.4~fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision data at $\sqrt{s} = 13$~TeV collected by the LHCb experiment. These decay channels offer new insights into the dynamics of baryon-meson systems [...]

FEL II
/ Hillert, Wolfgang (speaker)
The subject of this advanced course is a simplified treatment of the light amplification process in a free electron laser (FEL).
The first lecture deals with the so-called low gain FEL, where a “short” undulator is surrounded by an optical resonator. Starting with the calculation of the energy exchange between the electron beam and the radiation field, the ponderomotive phase is defined which remains constant when operating on resonance. [...]
